Doug Stevens joined his family business, formerly Wagon Master Feed, in 1978, bringing fresh energy and a forward-thinking approach that helped shape the company into what it is today. In his first year, Doug played a pivotal role in the acquisition of Equalizer Liquid Feed. This critical milestone doubled the company’s reach and introduced it to the liquid fertilizer market.

Working alongside his grandfather, Johnny Newman, Doug helped lead the rebranding of the company to what is now Equalizer, Inc., better reflecting the expanding presence in both the feed and fertilizer industries.

Rooted in a proud agricultural legacy, Doug is deeply committed to the values of hard work, innovation, and family. With immense pride in a business that has thrived across three generations, he is excited to see his children now involved in the company’s future. His vision is clear: to see Equalizer, Inc. continue to grow and flourish under the next generation's leadership while staying true to its family-first values and rural roots.

Jason Stevens has been a key member of Equalizer Inc. since 2013, continuing a proud family legacy within the company. As Vice President, he oversees operations at Equalizer Midwest and the St. Cloud mining company, playing a vital role in managing and expanding these divisions. 

With deep roots in the organization, Jason brings a long-term vision focused on growth and diversification, aiming to strengthen Equalizer Inc.’s presence across the industry. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to both the company’s heritage and its future.

Terry Mechell has been a dedicated part of the Equalizer Inc. team since April 28, 2014, bringing with him a lifelong passion for agriculture. As Sales Manager, Terry plays a key role in supporting the company’s mission and maintaining strong relationships within the industry. 

With deep roots in agriculture, Terry’s commitment to the field goes beyond his professional role. He is the co-owner of East of West Vineyards & Winery and Mechell Land & Cattle, and he remains actively involved in his local church as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and chairman of the Family Ministry team. 

Married for 44 years, Terry is a proud father of three and grandfather to six. His goal at Equalizer Inc. is to uphold the integrity of the agricultural industry and contribute to its continued strength and reputation for excellence. 

JIM CUMMINGS

TRUCK DISPATCHER

Jim Cummings has served as the Transportation Director at Equalizer Inc. since December 2010. With a background in fertilizer and a desire for a fresh challenge, Jim was drawn to Equalizer Inc. by both familiar faces and the opportunity to transition into the logistics field.

Over the years, Jim has overseen all logistics operations at Equalizer, playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of bulk commodities. His expertise in coordinating transportation solutions has been instrumental in supporting the company’s growth and maintaining its reputation for reliability and excellence.

Outside of work, Jim enjoys roping steers and practicing leatherwork, skills that reflect his hands-on approach and deep connection to traditional craftsmanship.

Jim’s ongoing goal is to help expand Equalizer Inc.'s fleet in alignment with the company’s continued business growth and evolving transportation needs.
